Pack 506 with putting out the bags. Meet at the church parking lot,

The following Scouts are in need of a leadership position
for advancement, and should attend: Kris Cook, Jason Coy, Andrew Hileman,
Trace Janota, Gus Klaus, Angelo Wilson and Ken Tiffany.

lot.

USS Kidd Campout February 14-16, 2009

Please mark your calendars for this event. We are now registered for 21
people. This is on a first come, first served basis. The deadline
for having the money ($130.00 per person, check made payable to Troop 2) in for
this event will be January 12, 2009. We are paid for 21 people only (no
less or no more). All deposits are non refundable. We will be taking
the church bus and Mr. H’s SUV. All people are to pack lightly (ie.
clothes, sleeping bag,pad, and toiletries only).
Tentative schedule is as follows:
Leave Cape Girardeau on Saturday the 14th at 6am, arrive in New
Orleans (lodging arrangements will be forth coming) no later than 5pm. We
will eat at a local restaurant then tour the Jackson Square area. Head to
our lodging facility for some sleep then on Sunday the 15th arrive at
the D-Day museum in downtown New Orleans by 9am and participate in a group tour.
After the tour of the D-Day museum we can tour some more of New Orleans until
3:30-4:00pm and depart for Baton Rouge (1.5 to 2 hours travel time).
Arrival at the USS Kidd for check in at 6:30 to 7:00pm. A tour will begin
at 8:15pm and extend to 9:30pm. From 9:30pm to 12:00am is free time aboard
the ship with optional activities of a scavenger hunt and engine room tour.
Lights out at 12:00 am as we will be sleeping on the ship in the actual crew
sleeping quarters. Awake at 6:30am and pack our gear, then have a
McDonald’s breakfast from 7:30 to 8:00am. At 8:00am we will tour the
museum then depart for Cape Girardeau by 9:00am for arrival at home by
7:00-8:00pm. All admission fees, food, lodging, and transportation are
included in the $130.00 fee

Some scouts in Troop 2 have expressed interested in attending the National
Jamboree July 26th - August 4, 2010. Visit the website to begin the
registration process. Approximate cost is expected to be around $2000.00.
Scouting is a
year-round program and youth members are welcome to join the fun at any time.
Youth may join even if they were never in Cub Scouts. Do you
know anyone that would enjoy camping, hiking, and other adventure activities
with our troop?
